A few subtle changes since my last sharing of current work activities.
NASA Web Service Office
Exciting news. As I’ve mentioned previously, I was spending a lot of time trying to increase the number of people who were dedicating the majority of their time tackling NASA’s Web challenges. Those efforts have manifested itself in the creation of a NASA Web Service Office. And I’m happy to say that I’m filling one of the roles in that office. We’re at a totally nascent stage, but I’ll share more on this soon.
As this office sets out to assist NASA and all of its field centers with embracing the full power of the Web, I expect to incorporate many of the elements that I included in the Web strategy I proposed for Ames Research Center.
NASA Ames’ SharePoint instance
With the birth of the NASA Web Service Office, I’m spending less time on SharePoint. But I am still pushing and advocating for SharePoint 2010 at NASA Ames. The reality of the situation is that partnering with a couple of the other NASA field centers on an enterprise SharePoint 2010 instance may be the only way to make the economics of supporting SharePoint work.
