Recently, I listened to a presentation about a new building currently under construction at NASA Ames Research Center.  It’s called Sustainability Base and it aims to be a net zero energy building.  It’s been a long time since a new building went up here at Ames and after listening to the presentation, I can say that I’ve never seen a government building like this.  To be a successful initiative, Sustainability Base need to be the model for future sustainable design and the green technologies integrated into the design.

What’s Sustainability Base doing to help the world’s water problem?  Via effective reuse of greywater, the building is expected to cut water use by 90 percent compared to similar sized buildings.
